The Old West is alive and well, in legend and in fact. For every artifact such as a fine vintage saddle or branding iron, there is a modern version in use today. The ranching industry still employs those free spirits known as cowboys, and they still ride in rodeos and wear the practical gear that has been stylized and gussied up for the movies.

The legend created by the movies has, however, stampeded out of control. Today, there is a delightful upsurge of funky furniture, ornate accessories and smart Western clothing that has created a glamorous, if not always realistic, lifestyle.
